Calibre and KO2

If you are thinking of buying a new Oasis or have already done so and you want to use Calibre and you are running Windows XP, you'll need to update your XP to Windows 7 or later. If your computer won't run a later OS or won't run a 64-bit Windows, you'll have to upgrade or replace the computer. Calibre only has support for the new Oasis in 3.11.1 or later. There is not going to be support in any earlier version.

If you using XP in 2017 year you have way bigger problems than lack of support for Oasis 2 :-P

Lots of people still are using XP. And some of those people will need to upgrade the computer or get a new computer in order to run a 64-bit Windows past XP.

To Acidweb's point it is not Calibre that should be the motivating factor to move off of XP. It has not had security patches for quite some time.... Not a safe OS at this point.

And if you haven't moved off of XP, are you really the kind of person who is going to spend $250 on an ereader?

I was trying to figure out a way to phrase it.

The kind of person using an operating system that hit end of life in 2014, when the upgrade to windows 10 was free for everyone, is not likely to have spent $300 on a kindle, or know how to install Calibre.

If Calibre doesn't run on 32 bit Windows 10, that's a whole other matter. But it is probably not worth Kovid's time to support that.

Yes, Calibre has a 32-bit version that runs on Windows 7 on up. But I cannot see any reason to install a 32-bit Windows 10. All my computers run 64-bit Windows.
