Sheldon, Georgie, Mrs: His Heart's Queen. v1. 21 Jul 2014

Sarah Elizabeth Forbush Downs (1843–1926) was a "dime novelist" who wrote novels under her own name, as "Mrs. Georgie Sheldon", and as "Mrs. George Sheldon Downs. Downs was born 5 June 1843 in Wrentham, MA. Her parents were Edwin A. Forbush and Malvina F. (Ware) Forbush. She received her education at the Ladies' Collegiate Institute, Worcester, MA. In 1868 she married George Sheldon Downs. She used a form of his name as a pseudonym in much of her writing. Her career began with newspaper contributions in 1869. As can be seen by the sheer number of books she wrote, Downs was a very popular author in her era. She was signed by Theodore Dreiser to write for his Smith's Magazine. Dreiser considered her to be one of the "three most popular authors in the world."

Just at sunset, one bright spring day, the car that plies up and down the inclined plane leading from the foot of Main street up the hills to the Zoological Gardens, of Cincinnati, started to make the ascent with its load of precious human freight.
The car was full of passengers, though not crowded, while among the occupants there were several young people, whose bright faces and animated manner bespoke how light of heart and free from care they were—what a gladsome, delightful place the world seemed to them.
One young lady, who was seated about midway upon one side of the car, attracted especial attention.
