Time in unregistered kindle
Can anyone give me the lipc-set-prop code for changing the time and timezone on an unregistered kindle touch?

Would it not be easier simply to register it?

I have never found any option to set the time or timezone on the KT (at least not in the UI) -- neither when it was unregistered, nor when it was registered.
When you connect to WiFi, the KT will contact an NTP server and set the time. You could also use "date" from the command-line to set it manually. For the time zone, I assume it uses the standard Linux way as well, but I'm too lazy to look it up for you |

Your Kindle may be faulty. You should be able to register it from anywhere in the world. Have you contacted Amazon's Kindle customer service? They are extremely helpful.

Once it can connect, it will reset the date and time from a network time server. Is this the "hacked to the core Kindle Touch" you mention in your signature? You might have to "unhack" it and start over. |

It never worked. Even when I took it out of the box. Before I even knew you could hack a KT (sad, isn't it )

So you're saying that your KT isn't able to connect to *any* WiFi networks?

I'm afraid I don't understand what you're saying. If you can connect to WiFi, why can't you register your Kindle?

The registration requires that you are not using a proxy/cache. If your ISP is using large caches, this becomes a problem. There's an ISP around here that does that. A few other sites, mostly ones using SharePoint have trouble.
I mostly use Duokan these days, which offers an easy way to change the time. Time applies to Kindle too. Pretty sure you can adjust it with ntpdate via console. |

I'm not sure why would you want 'lipc' command to do that. Anyway nobody dared to answer the question so here it goes ... to set the date/time enter the following into the search field at home screen: ;st <date> <time>
where <date> is date in the format yyy-mm-dd and <time> is time in the format HH:MM or run /usr/bin/dateTime.sh with the same <date> <time> arguments as ;st or run /usr/sbin/setdate with seconds since epoch ... that's what dateTime.sh does. There is one lipc event raised there, look into the file (shell script) for more info. But as thay said try to find out why you cannot register (supposed you really want to register and not doing it just to set time) |

Answering the question is merely treating the symptom rather than the disease. The real question is not "how do I set the time?", but "why can't I register my Kindle?".
