Why do the space ships in "Star Wars" (SW) seem more real than those in "Star Trek" (ST)? I think it's because the ships in SW seem to have a used quality that those in ST don't. A scene that has struck with me in SW is when Han Solo enters the cockpit of the Millenium Falcon and hits the ship with his fist to get the ship working. That moment shows a clunkiness that makes the ship more real. In ST it would have involved a detailed analysis to discover the source of the problem and get the ship working, yet in SW a good old-fashioned whack to the malfunctioning machine gets it working.

Neither seems real to me. At the first roar of the engines in airless space or the first thundering blast of phaser cannons in the vacuum that surrounds the ship, they've lost me. Give me 2001 every time. The only sounds heard outside the walls of a spacecraft should be the Blue Danube Waltz of Johann Strauss; just like in real life.

Will people continue to listen to music as an audio-only experience or will audio-only music be superseded by a complete audio and video experience?

Crystal is one crazy you-know-what.
It's 31° F outside. It's been raining. The ground is soaked and cold. A while ago I let Norton and Crystal outside to take care of business. Norton comes back in and promptly pees on the dishwasher. Bad dog; but if someone expected me to go outside in this weather to use the bathroom, I might pee on their dishwasher too. But after waiting by the door for about 10 minutes, there was no sign of Crystal. So I went outside to look for her, and there she was, laying by the fence watching the wheels go 'round and 'round, enjoying the chill as if it were a cool summer breeze.
I think she has anti-freeze in her veins. |

Is it possible that English spelling will simplify in the future as the result? I've noticed some small but interesting changes in spelling, such as the alternate spelling of "through" as "thru." Could the changes continue? As an example, could the letters "ph" replace the letter "f"?

It's time to get rid of the letter "c".
