Yeah, Rowling is an idiot. Even if she doesn't want the money and "OMG! My precious must be read on paper!" She could take that money and make a charity for getting paper books to kids that can't afford it, for example.

And, yes, there is a Wikipedia article if you are not familiar with it. |

I keep hearing that Rowling is adamantly opposed to ebook editions. Is there documentation of a public statement she's made to that effect? I can't seem to find anything useful from Google at the moment. Has she given reasons for any opposition she feels?

Since the article is from 2005, and last year Deathly Hallows had a record-setting starting print run of 12 million copies, I don't think it could be argued that pirated ebooks have any substantial negative effect on the Harry Potter industry. |

Actually, yours was a better link. Igorsk's just said that they were not going to be authorized, it didn't really explain why.
Basically, Rowling is a luddite. She writes the books by hand with a pen and paper, and has said in interviews before that it's her belief that the books can only be properly appreciated if they are read on paper. She does not believe that eBooks are the correct way for people to experience her stories. |

Amazon's Response (Sort of)
Apparently Amazon learned something from this incident.
http://www.amazon.com/tag/kindle/for...Tx8X8CCXEEBK1O Self-publishing authors are now encountering a filtering/review process before books are put up for sale. |
