I've also used VLC Media Player and 7-Zip from that list.
Congrats to Kovid for making the list. |

How hard would it be to be able to legally open DRM'd ePub and Mobi eBooks? That and a sync feature and Calibre would do all the other software does. Or even partnering up with an eBook retailer and be able to purchase books from within Calibre! How cool would that be The iTunes for eBooks |

Opening DRMed books in an open source program is a contradiction in terms. Basically, if I opened DRMed books in calibre, you could modify calibre very easily to use it as a DRM removal tool. The only way DRM works is with closed source software. Partnering with sites that sell DRM free books though should definitely be possible.

Good on 'ya mate! I'm sure those commercial partnership proposals won't be long coming. It's a great piece of software and Sony's and others out there would do well for their business to talk to you

Congratulations. You make the ebook world a better place. I know I wouldn't be such a fan of reading digitally without your tools. I applaud you and your contribution to all of us readers.

That's great news! My eBook reading and making will certainly be more limited in many ways without calibre.

I can only hope fame and fortune (mostly fortune ) come your way. Calibre is up there with some pretty hefty stuff, well done.
Gratitude for making my readers useable from a Mac, and gratitude by proxy from my partner and Mother, who both use Calibre. (Gratitude, and a small donation). |
