Dates for translators and illustrators

This post probably doesn't fit here, but it might get missed in the Feedback forum - or could be moved there.

In the preamble to uploading a new ebook to the MR library there is a statement to the effect that the author must have died at least 70 years before the upload. Could I suggest that the preamble be enlarged to include translators and illustrators as well as authors?

Good point, but even covers can be included. Of course illustrations can often be left out and covers needn't be used. It is often impossible to know if illustrations and covers are separately copyrighted. Translators certainly own their translations.

Thanks. I quite agree with your comments. I think that for most books illustrations and covers can be omitted without much harm; they are adjuncts to the text but not as important as the text. So if the statement I suggested goes up as an official part of MR policy and the copyright to a cover or illustrations cannot be found and they are essential to the book then that book cannot be part of the MR library. If the cover and illustrations are not vital to the book then the statement could require that they be omitted if copyright cannot be found.
