Large book collections

Hello,
I am a masochist who enjoys large book collections on my PRS500. I was wondering if it would be possible for calibre to manage the contents of a memory stick or SD card directly connected to a PC rather than through my PRS500, and if this might allow me to hold my insanely large book collection comfortably (better than Sony eBook Library anyway).

Well you can put files on the card using save to disk. It doesn't allow you to list files on the card at the moment.
