Wallace, Edgar: The Lone House Mystery. v1. 12 May 07

Edgar Wallace co-wrote the novel King Kong (still copyrighted), and about 175 novels, in addition to numerous short stories. There was also a radio show in the 50s (?). Many of his novels have been made into movies throughout the years.

One reviewer has called him the "King of Thrillers," but the fact is that he was an extremely prolifice writer, much read in his time. I beleive he died in 1931.

His novels are good old-fashioned pot-boilers, with some better than others (obviously), due to the rapid pace of his writing.

This is a collection of 4 stories, one of novel length (or novella - you choose).

He also created a crime-fighting character named J. G. Reeder. This is what one reader says about him:

"[Reeder is] a shabby, weak-faced middle-aged man [who] strikes terror in the hearts of criminals. J.G. Reeder, the self confessed "man-with-a-criminal-mind" is most irritating to a reader in the sense that his success is almost guaranteed! Sometimes you feel a little bit sorry for the criminals..."

I think I'll start work on the Reeder stories, but there's still a LOT out there in the PD. But if no one is interested in these, I'll work on something else.

PLEASE: If you find errors that need to be corrected, let me know and I'll try to fix them.

Don

We obviously share similar interests in crime stories, Don! Just to let you know, I'm half way through doing an anthology of all the "Reeder" books. Don't let that put you off doing them, obviously, but though you might like to know .

Harry -- go right ahead with your plans for Reeder. I look forward to them.

In the meantime, I'll work on a few of the misc. novels here and there by Wallace.

The Reeder series should be really fun.
