Please Help! HTC EVO Phone Aldiko/wordplayer apps not finding Epubs
Hi, I'm hoping someone can help. I've been scanning the forum for a while, and while I may have missed it, I can't find anything talking about the HTC Evo Android mobile phone and how to sync downloaded and converted Calibre epubs to the phone. I've tried to follow the FAQ on Calibre's site, and have exhausted many paths. Am I missing something? I still can't view my books on my phone despite my best efforts.
I have DRM free epubs. Everything runs fine on Calibre and Kindle. I downloaded the latest Calibre (v. 0.7.38), and while it says it recognizes my device and says it's successfully synced it to my phone (which it did, I can see the epubs in /ebooks/import/ on my phone's main memory diskdrive...), Wordplayer still can't read them. Wordplayer says it can't find the Calibre Server and to try a different IP in the form?? It won't work and it crashes when I try to load epub from SDCARD. I tried Aldiko, too. It says there are no books found when I try to Import even though the epub files are right there on my phone. The files are in the correct directory...I tried moving them out of /import/ and moving the epubs all around, but I'm lost. It still won't work. I've mounted the HTC as a disk. I'm running Windows XP. Do I need a driver? Here are my corresponding Debug device connection code files: Device not connected: Version: 0.7.33 Device connected:USB devices on system: [u'usb\\root_hub&vid8086&pid268a&rev0009', u'usb\\root_hub&vid8086&pid2689&rev0009', u'usb\\root_hub&vid8086&pid2688&rev0009', u'usb\\root_hub&vid8086&pid268b&rev0009', u'usb\\root_hub20&vid8086&pid268c&rev0009', u'usb\\vid_03f0&pid_0b17&rev_0100', u'usb\\vid_03f0&pid_2f24&rev_0000', u'usb\\vid_03f0&pid_2f24&rev_0000', u'usb\\vid_045e&pid_0039&rev_0300', u'usb\\vid_0bb4&pid_0ff9&rev_0226', u'usb\\vid_413c&pid_1003&rev_0200', u'usb\\vid_413c&pid_2010&rev_0200', u'usb\\vid_413c&pid_2010&rev_0200&mi_00', u'usb\\vid_413c&pid_2010&rev_0200&mi_01'] Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages\calibre\devices\scanner.py", line 69, in __call__ DriveError: No removable drives found Drives detected: Available plugins: ALEX ANDROID AVANT AZBOOKA BLACKBERRY BOOQ BOOX COOL_ER CYBOOK DBOOK E52 E71X EB511 EB600 EBK52 ECLICTO EDGE ELONEX ESLICK FOLDER_DEVICE_FOR_CONFIG GEMEI GER2 HANLINV3 HANLINV5 ILIAD INVESBOOK IPAPYRUS IREXDR1000 IREXDR800 IRIVER_STORY ITALICA ITUNES JETBOOK JETBOOK_MINI KINDLE KINDLE2 KINDLE_DX KOBO KOGAN LUMIREAD MENTOR MIBUK N516 N770 N810 NEWSMY NOOK NOOK_COLOR NUUT2 ORIZON PALMPRE PDNOVEL PDNOVEL_KOBO PICO POCKETBOOK301 POCKETBOOK360 POCKETBOOK602 PRS505 Q600 README S60 SHINEBOOK SNE SOVOS SPECTRA SWEEX TECLAST_K3 THEBOOK VELOCITYMICRO Looking for devices... u'usb\\vid_0bb4&pid_0ff9&rev_0226' Devices possibly connected: None Version: 0.7.33

This looks to me like a Wordplayer issue rather than a Calibre one. Try looking for help either in the relevant subforum on here or look for whatever support Wordplayer offers.

I might also note, I'm having problems with FBReaderJ as well. It says my Favorites are empty and the file tree is all locked up "Permission denied" as soon as I or Calibre copy epubs over. Is the DRM not fully removed or something? Than why does it work on Kindle?

You should try posting in a device forum, all calibre does is copy files over, there's not a lot of room for things to go wrong in that. Verify that the files calibre copies over can be opened by an ebook viewer on your desktop, if they can, then there's nothing wrong with the calibre stage and you need to get device specific support.

Good point. You're right, the files do open in an ereader on my desktop from the files on my phone.
I'll try Wordplayer support next. |
