I let my VIP expire and then followed the instructions for joining VIP. One of the options is to use points. I couldn't figure out any way to use points other than waiting until my membership expired, however.

I think they've changed the program slightly. My VIP membership expired a few days ago, and when I go to explore membership, it has a "renew now" button, and when I click on it, it adds a $10 VIP membership to my shopping cart. I don't see any way to use points to renew it.

Kobo US has a sale on mysteries and thrillers at up to 85% off, good through Feb 12. Mostly titles that have been on sale before, but in a quick glance throuh I spotted a couple of titles that looked interesting to me. Kobo sent me a card in the mail to say they'd given me bonus points for being a loyal VIP member. I was happily surprised

I've tried several of the codes listed on here, but none of them seem to work. Any newer codes available?

I was actually able to use a 90% off coupon yesterday.

I found one in my email from January. I was surprised it actually worked. I had given up.
I also found a 50% off coupon from November in there that worked. So I was finally able use my settlement credit and got two books and a box set out if it. Not bad for $1.80.

So if you ignored those coupons thinking they won't work. You might want to try them again. I'm thinking either they fix the issue, (Not likely) or we get one 90% off each year.

Well, they shouldn't. Such codes are one-time use, in theory.

If I get anymore I'll post. I am through buying from Kobo. I can no longer get gift cards from the rewards program and now my settlement credit is used up so I have no need for coupons.

Thanks Blossom! That worked for me -- Kobo has never sent me a 90% coupon (or anything more than 20% for that matter), so this was a real treat!

I did end up being able to use points to renew my VIP membership. When I didn't renew right away, about 2 weeks (just under) later, I got an email from Kobo asking if I wanted to upgrade to VIP status with a link, and when I followed the link I had the option to upgrade for $10, or to upgrade for 4,000 points.
So I guess if your VIP expires and you are willing to wait a couple weeks to renew, you might be able to do it via points instead of having to pay.

Good to know, I didn't renew my membership (indirectly, my virtual credit card was out of money), and I still have 4,000 points, so I'll wait a little bit longer and check it out.
