Calibre 3.48 for Windows 7 users
You might have to create a "why can't I use the viewer in Calibre 4.x in Windows 7" sticky.
Is there any chance (and I suspect I know the answer) that the 3.48 version could at least be updated to include the latest Kobo firmware? I finally bought a Kobo, thinking I'd be able to get back to using the collections I lost since I gave up on Sony and switched to a Kindle. But - at least for now - the Libra isn't recognized by Calibre. I'm hanging onto my Windows 7 laptop for a bit longer before I by a new computer with Windows 10. I try to have the same operating system at home that I use it work - just to keep from having to remember what can't be done "there" as compared to "here". |

You can simply patch the kobo driver.py file in an installation of 3.48 yourself. Look for pylib.zip open it in a zip editor delete the kobo/driver.pyo file and replace it with driver.pyo from a newer calibre.

And that isn't needed. Calibre 3.48 added support for the Kobo Libra H2O - it was almost the only change. But, there was another firmware release just afterwards that bumped the database version. Just follow the instructions in the warning message and it will be fine.
When the next firmware version comes out, it will probably be the same. But, check the Kobo forum for the thread discussing the update. I will post a statement about the calibre support as soon as I can. |

Thanks to both of you.
When I read the warning, it sounded from the wording it was a dangerous thing to try, so I skipped over it. I'll read it more closely next time I hook up the Libra. |
