Eine interessante Entdeckung!

Vor allem, weil das Buch offenbar nur auf Deutsch unter dem Pseudonym "Acton Currer Bell" veröffentlicht wurde (lt. Worldcat).

Ebenfalls 1851 auf Deutsch veröffentlicht: Rockingham, oder Der jüngere Bruder.

Dazu gab es aber 1849 eine - allerdings anonyme - englische Veröffentlichung. Die spätere Autorenzuordnung (Philippe Ferdinand Auguste de Rohan Chabot) ist nicht zweifelsfrei gesichert.

Ergänzung:

... Manchmal liefert die Google-Books-Suche auch mehr als erwartet:

z.B. unter dem relativ unpräzisen Suchbegriff "Melwood 1849" kommt u. a. "Ernest Vane" von Alexander Baillie Cochrane zum Vorschein. Bingo!
Sackville Street - Piccadilly - Mr. Leslie — tauchen im ersten Absatz auf, genau wie bei "Die Geschwister".

Da diente wohl die Falschangabe im Buch nur der Verkaufssteigerung.

So Buch unter neuem Autor geladen.
