Using Calibre with Android Word Processor?

How can I use Calibre to export a file to Android, use Andropen Office, Collabora, or another word processing app to create an edited version of that file, and then have Calibre import the edited version?

Standard file transfer is a pain in the neck.

I can open Calibre, view the device, copy to my downloads, and import a new copy into Calibre, but haven't found a less roundabout method.
