wrong font weight in Book editor on macos Mojave

Hi, after updating macos to Mojave the Book Editor (both edit and preview windows) does not show bold fonts properly (and for some fonts, like Liberation-Serif even italic is shown as bold - see attached pictures). Tested in calibre versions 3.30-3.32.
I wonder if it is related to the issue in Qt/macos described in the following Qt bug report?

This specific issue seems to be fixed in Qt 5.9.7 [16917]. I would like to know if this is something that:
1/ has to be corrected by embedding new (fixed) version of Qt to new version of Calibre (hence, as a user, waiting for Calibre update), or
2/ has to be corrected by Apple by updating QTKit, or
3/ can be corrected by user by some other means?
