I'm running Windows 7 Enterprise. Explorer does detect the device as a removable disk but I'm unable to see the contents. The reader is also listed as a Sony Portable Reader System in the Control Panel.
I'll try to run calibre on Ubuntu also, to see if it works any better there. |

If you can't see the drive contents then you should probably reformat your sony memory (you can do this via the menu on the sony)

Thanks kovidgoyal, it all works now, though I'm not sure why. I initiated a formatting, got the message Formatting Internal Memory, then the reader froze completely. I left it over the night just in case a formatting really would take several hours. A reset this morning fixed the freeze with all my contents still intact on the reader, which means it can't have been formatted. But now at least calibre recognizes it, so I'm happy with that.
