Azw3 vs dual mobi: pros and cons?

I've been using old school mobi all these years, but now with an unjailbroken device, I need to use a newer format to have custom font.

Azw3 and dual mobi look pretty much the same, but are there pros and cons of using one format vs another?

(I'm using Calibre, though I can use another converter if need be.)

A dual mobi will be a larger file size as it's basically the old mobi and the AZW3 in one file.

Do you email books to Amazon? If so dual mobi is one of the easier ways to get an AZW3 into their cloud IIRC (the other being sending an AZW3 with a different extension such as .png).

They're one and the same, as far as newer devices go (in both cases you'll get the azw3 file).

The pros and cons of sending a file from Calibre vs e-mailing it: when you e-mail the book, you'll get the option to sync with your other Kindle apps and devices. That said, I personally use the direct Calibre sending, because I want custom page numbers and syncing is not a high priority for me.

Yeah I should've said I use USB transfer through Calibre.

Then use azw3, dual mobi will just waste space, if you send via USB anyway.
