Exclamation Removing reading indicator

Is it possible to remove the reading indicator from pages? Maybe with some command in reader.pref or something?? I have Kindle 3 (3.3)

Do you mean the loc and % indicator at the bottom? No, its not possible, someone already asked this is a different post. It's a pain is it not? I would prefer the page number personally, and the time was displayed

I love the page number, but it's only supported on the new ebooks by Amazon.com, quite annoying.

I liked an old feature in Sony PRS 505, it calculated the number of pages automatically (not with reference to the real book), but it's a better indicator than %.

The K3 has a cool feature I like in that the location/progress bar also shows where the chapters/sections are located, assuming the mobi was formatted correctly. This gives you a bit of visual as to where you are in the book and the chapter. The K4, K5, and K6 no longer have this feature. In the K3, K4, and K5 the location/page number is always visible when reading a book. The K6 auto hides the location/page number.

I also like the chapter mark feature on the K2 & K3 and wish the newer devices had it.

Not on my K4. I only have the percentage. The location/page number only comes up when you are in the menu screen. I don't know why, because the location/page doesn't take up any additional space....

MY Kindle Touch does not display the chapter marks. I am reading the same book on my Touch and my Kindle DX. The DX shows the chapter marks, the Touch does not.

Odd that they would have that feature on the non-Touch Kindle 4.

Probably because the software on the Kindle 4 is much, much closer to the one on the K3 than the one on the Touch, especially the UI.

But yeah, I kinda miss these on my Touch .

The K4 even used K3 eink display drivers (einkfb) when booted from main. Interestingly, when booted from diags, it uses the newer faster K5 eink display drivers (mxcfb). My eink "dithermation" demos run a LOT faster on a K4 in diags mode than in main mode.

So, not only is the UI more like a K3, but (some of) the device drivers are ALSO more like a K3.

but it doesn't always line up with the grey bar inside the progress bar, which i took to be my current reading position... i don't get why they're different?
