Key word - infringes.
I don't think my actions infringe anything. Also, they speak of "laws of copyright" - who's jurisdiction? There are some differences I'm aware of. Differences which are applicable to such situations. p.s. I don't use Mega. p.p.s If I DO want to pirate Kindle Store books (as in 'don't pay for them anything') - I think knew how to do that without ever visiting amazon.com. I choose NOT to. |

How about ftp/sftp as a cloud provider?
And would you consider renewing CC icon for Android? |

I assume it works like other clouds. I don't know if it's technically possible or not. Only the devs are in the position to say.

- Calibre library gets one-way synced to Synology NAS which runs 24/7 and available via public DNS name. (I do that for unrelated reasons) - Synology runs sftp/ftps (in addition to regular VERY insecure ftp) servers (my Synology NAS doesn't do that, I prefer WebDAV to ftp/sftp) - CC connects to this server. as far as I understood, CC doesn't modify remote library in Cloud Connection mode so oneway sync is ok. I would possible use such thing but will prefer WebDAV instead of ftp/sftp. |

i thought FTP was very old and almost obsolete - like me ...and is an non specialist general purpose thing, unlike a OPDS server that is actually designed for e-books, or a DLNA server which is designed for media. the latter 2 have proper built-in metadata support. synology runs calibre content server already, [ search forum for details] so why re-invent the wheel Last edited by stumped; 06-03-2020 at 09:24 AM. |

So you can set it up for 24/7 access on a Synology. It is no harder than setting up a Plex server. |

Box looks to be the best free solution now, if you can manage with <10gb and with no book larger than 250mb. Bugs seem fixed, for CC, and it will install and work as a virtual drive on most devices, bypassing cc, and using very little space.

Box is inferior to Mega - 50 GB - file limit 5 GB I notice that you only suggest small, smaller! Why are you lacking interest in really neat things? |

Ok. I thought this was allobvious but I will spell it out in small words.
Box is the best of the available now with full CC support options. Kwown bug's are now fixed. Several users ,including myself have tested it. You can have a cheap paid tier if you need larger files or more space. Many people can live with a 250mb book limit Mega, which is anyway only 15gb free after Month 1, is NOT supported in CC and will probably never be supported. Because 1. Only one person wants it?, 2. Because there are technical showstoppers already posted about in boring detail. 3. Because mega has no history of ever allowing 3rd party products to interface with theirs. 4. Because it will get banned in USA probably within a year, As part of the drive to ban any apps that refuse to allow back door access for FBI, for anti-terrorism. Has not happened yet because USA has more urgent problems right now... 5. Because Kim Dotcom says it's now crap and should not be used..... 6. It's owned by shady Chinese guys/ govt proxies.. Which dooms it for the usa market unless there is a change of USA govt attitudes to China. Li Zhi Min, a Beijing businessman, now owns 43 percent of MEGA’s shares. That's enough for today. I was done with discussing mega. you keep exhuming it. If you really want to make it happen, go write the needed plug ins . Last edited by stumped; 06-03-2020 at 01:37 PM. |
