The skies are clear and the sun was bright, but it's 11° (F) out there!

It snowed on Tuesday and hasn't melted yet. A rare occurrence. Usually it melts almost immediately because either the ground it too warm or too wet from previous rain.
But today it'll melt. For early to mid-afternoon snow is predicted, but temperatures are going to rise throughout the day so the snow will go over into rain. |

I hear it's a bit nippy in my ol' home town in western Wisconsin, it's why I live Hawaii!

-20F here outside with wind gust. They've set up warming centers down farther south of us which is supposed to get to -40F this is with wind chill.
Inside apartment a cozy 73F. They told us turn our heat up 4 degrees. I did it yesterday before it got too cold and now enjoying the residue from it. Sent from my Moto E |

Polar vortex. It's not as extreme here as some other locations, but it'll do!
As usual, I'll be picking up my son from his night job. I plan on leaving extra early and waiting at the McDonald's across the highway (with a Diet Coke and my ereader!) so he doesn't wait on the sidewalk. The temperature right now is about 5° and falling. The wind chill is well below 0F. |

It's just below freezing, -2C, so not as cold as some in the US are experiencing, but cold enough for me. For yesterday they had predicted up to 5cm of snow, only a light dusting fell. Right now it's grey and misty, but it's predicted the sun will come out and temperatures will rise to 3-5C, with later tonight a chance of snow and/or rain and/or wet snow and/or sleet.

A bolt that goes all the way through a very heavy, solid wooden door is frosted on the inside. Not amazing by any means, but still a rather stark reminder of what's going on on the other side.

*don't hit me*
*or throw snowballs at me* It's officially spring! No, not the pesky rodent ... When I went out onto my front porch today to fetch an Amazon box, I walked through a SPIDER WEB!!! Yes, a pair of suicidal daddy long legs had spun an ambitious web from jamb to hinges .... [When the temps dip, as they surely will, the two arrogant arachnids will go into a form of suspended animation and wait for warmer temps.] |
