Convert AZW3 to printable: pdf?

Thank you for any and all assistance I may be able to receive:

I am trying to convert a textbook in AZW3 format to a printable file. I am able to convert the text component to any number of formats but none of them display the pictures which are essential to the text.

Do I need a plug-in? Is pdf the best option for this process?

Most likely your azw3 is a fixed layout book, this is not supported by calibre.

Are you sure it's AZW3 and not AZW4?

Yes, it is AZW3. It is a textbook that I need to print parts of. Any suggestions welcome?

You could try using the KindleUnpack plugin to give you HTML and images, and see if they'll open sensibly in a web browser. Then you might be able to print from there.

If it's actually an azw4, KindleUnpack will give you a PDF.
