LOST.DIR in NC main directory.

Hi all, I hooked up my NC to the computer after swapping out the SD card (8GB)
from my Nook Classic and found a folder named LOST.DIR. Within that folder
was a file called "30887". It is 160MB in size and I was able to move it to my
computer. Its properties say it was created today. (12-26-10) There is a folder
on the SD directory and on the main directory of the Nook. I can not delete
them , the empty folders, permanently. They go away but come back.

One other thing that has me puzzled, B&N claim that the NC has 8GB of
space but according to my computer, it only has 5GB.

Have any ideas on either of these questions?

Thanks.

The "missing" 3GB is reserved for B&N apps and the OS.

Re: Lost.Dir - Did you update to 1.0.1? Perhaps that's the update file. It probably wasn't properly cleaned up.

Thanks, SCION, I had a feeling it was something like that but those two
folders had me thinking something else might be going on.

Thanks, SCION, I did update the NC. I was thinking the file was about the
same size, if I remember correctly, as the update file. But I would like to delete
those folders--they bug me.

They can't be permanently deleted. The OS places it there.

There has to be a way to remove leftover junk files.

You can delete the content of the folder. If you delete the folder it will be re-created.
