[SOLVED] Error adding books and plugins
This error just started yesterday. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Calibre to the latest version, and it still persists. It appears when adding new books, and adding new plugins, but updating plugins worked just fine. Any and all help greatly appreciated!

Something on your computer, most likely the anti-virus is blocking the calibre
helper process for file dialogs (calibre-file-dialog.exe). Disable the antivirus or add an exception for calibre-file-dialog.exe and you should be fine. Alternatively, you can tell calibre to not use native file dialogs, which avoids the helper process, by setting the CALIBRE_NO_NATIVE_FILEDIALOGS environment variable to 1 as described here: https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/cus...ment-variables |

[SOLVED]
Thank you, JSWolf and kovidgoyal. I tried both of your suggestions to no avail. I went back and looked at what may have changed to my system between the time that Calibre worked and when it broke. It turns out that I had updated NetDrive from version 2 to 3. Once I disabled the NetDrive services, Calibre was once again able to import books.

Glad you got it working. NetDrive obviously is a poorly written program.

Tommy, do you use Netdrive? If you do, you will need to dump it as it's very poorly written.
