The reflective LCD very suitable for e-reader's display
<Post here only>
The reflective LCD of BlackBerry 7730 is very suitable for being used as the e-Reader's display if increasing its resolution and extending its size to 9 inch, because the reflective LCD has very good refresh rate comparing to e-ink, and does not cause eye strain comparing to IPS screen of iPad and other tablets using LED backlit. Also,this LCD has good reflectance. Color fidelity is not so important for reading most of ebooks except fashion style magazines. Which LCD factory produced the reflective LCD of BlackBerry 7730 and why not use it to 7 and 9 inch ebook readers? It will be better if Amazon considers the kind of reflective LCD as Kindle e-Reader's display.This LCD is based on the existing mature technology and therefore easy to put into mass production. Moreover, another kind of color reflective LCD developed by Japan Display Inc in 2012 has 40% reflectance. Last edited by charles2013; 04-12-2013 at 12:14 PM. |

eink refresh rate is 7fps when "overclocked" Totally decent.
You list a DX which had a sucky refresh rate, However isotherms firmware hack with 1 bit mode is practically instant compared to the original firmware. Which sucked quite badly. Also Geekmaster discovered a way to improve the 1.5 FPS of the DX too... Don't recall if he ever published it. But I take your point. Do a kickstarter. btw. no need to cross-post. All the relevant people are right here Last edited by twobob; 04-12-2013 at 12:13 PM. |

E-reader with reflective LCD: Better refresh rate + Less eye strain=a good e-reader.
* Compared to e-ink in refresh rate,and to transmissive LCD in eye strain caused. Welcome your comments. |
