Well, stumbled on AAXToMp3 in Sourceforge. Still testing, but it looks extremely simple and promising.

Bingo! AAXToMp3 is undoubtedly the best possible dedicated converter. Only AAX without any finetuning, only 2 buttons, but it does what it's supposed to do without much ado and in a reasonable time.

Wow! Thanks for that recommendation! Works far faster and better than apps I actually paid for!

No, but it should be a piece of cake: the top button says "Find" to open an AAX-file, the bottom button says "Convert". The buttons remain greyed out until conversion has finished.

Wish that AAXtoMP3 thing were Mac as well as PC! However, the Ondesoft produce mentioned on the first page is free (for a facebook like and share - booo) for one more day. Since somebody here says it's good, I perjured my soul and like&shared to get it. Here's my thread mentioning it. Only one more day to get it free:
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=261684 After you like&share, you have to download each piece separately, and copy a long license code, both from the instructions they send you. SOO don't lose those instructions; they contain the download link as well as the license code. |

I don't facebook. So I'll stick to my own favourite, dbPowerAmp. Which works just great, once you set up the DirectShow filter correctly (and copy the 2 DLLs that are required.)
what I'd like to see is integration with the AAX converter. |
