Books not showing up in Calibre Companion iPad Mini

So I just got a Kindle paperwhite from Prime day and wanted to move around 50 books from my old iPad mini (12.4.8 ios). I tried following the instructions and installed the companion and connected it to the app on my PC. But no books show up anywhere on the iPad add. The books all show up in iTunes and in the Books app, but I don't know how to get them off and into Calibre for my Kindle. I did search and got more confused about debugging things and doing screenshots of the port settings etc...

Any simple instructions on how to move books that are not showing up in the Companion app on an iPad?

CC is for passing books from Calibre to CC, not the other way around. Where did you bought the books you have on iTunes?

Thanks. Some are downloads, but many are old files. They show up on the iPad in iTunes, but I don't know how to get them off the iPad.

I don't have an iPad, so maybe Apple has changed the way to download archives to your PC, but I think you have to install iTunes in your PC and connect the iPad by cable.
Or maybe you can send yourself an email from the iPad (Google, Microsoft, Yahoo... accounts, I don't know if an Apple email account would be accessible from a PC) and attach to the email the books you want to pass to your PC. If they weren't bought on Apple's iBooks store you'll be able to read them in other devices. If they were bought on iBooks, I think you are out of luck, since if they have DRM you are locked to read them on Apple devices.

The design philosophy for the iPad and iPhone has been one way syncing since the beginning. You can sync files to your iPad/iPhone/iPod but not from your iPad/iPhone/iPod. This goes back to preventing people from pirating music back in the day.

It's possible that some files can be sent via email or messaging, but in general, copying content from an iPad to another device isn't supported. I suppose it's possible to jail break a device and get it that way but I have no idea if jail breaking is even still a thing.

Thanks. I tried the iTunes way and it didn't let me drag or move the books in anyway.

Thanks.
I tried emailing and all I got was the title and author.
I appreciate the idea.

As far as I know, there is no way to liberate books purchased from Apple. They can only be used on an iDevice that is registered to the same Apple ID that was used to purchase them.

I love my iDevices, but never buy books or music from Apple. If a person only uses iDevices, it would be ok. But I don't do the bulk of my reading on any of my Apple devices. I need to be able to get my digital books to my Kindles, which isn't possible with Apple Books.

There is a way to remove the DRM from movies and books purchased from Apple. It's the only reason that I continue to buy movies from Apple. Obviously, if you purchase a book, music or movie from Apple, you can re-download it onto your iDevice. If you have a mac, you can download them onto your mac as well.

Thanks all.

I had success by looking through my back up drives. Found copy of my old iTunes library and the books were buried in the folders. Not sure why they're not in my new iTunes library, but I eventually got everything back into Calibre so now I can add them to the Paperwhite.
