iBooks background color question

I noticed that my iBooks has a black background. It is driving me nuts! Is there a way to change the back ground color to white?

In a book? Sure, tap the screen, then tap the Aa button/icon.

The book store and library is black that is what I want to change

Unfortunately, it automatically changes to black or white based on your surroundings and there is no setting for disabling this behavior.

Press the Home button to exit Settings and launch any reading app. Triple-click the Home button on your iOS device in quick succession and it should enable white-on-black effect quite similar to iBooks Night mode. Triple-click again to switch to normal mode.

Switch the auto-night theme button off in the books settings.

I've never seen this behavior on my iPad Pro. I have Night Shift turned off in the iPad Settings.

It's got nothing to do with auto night mode in an actual book and it's got nothing to do with night shift, Apple Books (since IOS 12) just does that, when you're browsing your library or the book store it goes from white to black if the room gets dark and vice versa, that's it.

Just checked this out...the book store (which I've never used) did go to a black background when I walked into a dark room. That is something I'd never notice, since I don't buy iBooks. I wouldn't be fond of this either...I don't like settings like that that can't be user controlled.

A book I have in iBooks didn't change background color, it stayed the way I had it set.

I know it is stupid that it is forced. I bought my first iBook so to explore the apples feature more. I prefer black in the day and white at night lol too bad you cannot shut it off . We have that night shift orange glow thing now so I do not see how the black background is needed
