Bulk deleting Archived Items (K3)

I've got a Kindle 3 (Keyboard). I've been using Calibre for a long time to read RSS feeds, and now my Archived Items category has more than 1,000 items in it because every time I delete an RSS feed, it is added to the Archived Items category.

Is the best way to delete all those archived items in bulk to attach my K3 to the PC where Calibre is running, go into Device View, sort by title, and then delete?

Is there any way to prevent the K3 from archiving them -- so delete means delete?
