You might have seen this mentioned elsewhere but the Miss Seeton books look like they are being issued as e-books on Amazon UK.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb...s=heron+carvic

The first 2 are available and the third to be issued in June. Can't see mention on the Au site - may be soon?

Thanks - these sound like fun, although it's a series I've not come across before. Just bought book 1 from Amazon UK for 99p. Worth a punt at that price.

Thanks Mort

I've picked up the first in the series at Amazon AU, for $1.28. The second and third books are $3.99 and the third book will be released on 2 June.

Edit
I note from Goodreads that the original version of the first book was 'sanitised' into the book that is most likely the one on sale now. Pity!

I've never read Simenon.

Is there one novel that most fans think is his very best?

If you're talking about the Maigret books, then I'm not sure that there is a best. They are all consistently good. They are getting a bit hard to find (at least in paper), so taking whatever you can get is probably the best course.

Simenon also wrote quite a few mysteries without Maigret, but I haven't read many of those myself, so I'll leave it to someone else to recommend some.

Why would you want to read them as pbooks? They are all (?) available as ebooks - in the UK at least.

Old habits. I looked for ebooks quite a few years ago, but they weren't available over here at that time. I see on Google Play that Penguin has released a bunch since then. I'll see if I'm missing any of the ones on offer (although it can be hard to tell since they get renamed often).

One of the perils of translated books! They very often do get renamed in the process.

I must put in another vote for R. Daneel Olivaw.

He is truly out of this world although I find his methods a little inhuman.

After reading D. A. Mishani's three police procedurals I just have to add Avi Avraham to my list of favourite detectives:

Erlendur (Iceland)
Martin Beck (Sweden)
Evert Bäckström (Sweden)
Avraham Avraham (Israel)
