Unless the screen is way better I don't see an upgrade in my future. No more memory (still only 2gig of which a bit is not usable), no more font controls, no sound, no removable media. Just not worth the upgrade from the current Kindle PW.

Yes, there are shadow cones around the four LED lights, but it's not in the area of the text on the page. Do you find it to be a problem?

it is using the new Carta e-paper technology instead of E Ink Pearl. hope that the reflectivity and contrast will be much better than that of the current models.

So, it says new display technology. Does this mean the new eInk tech that was announced a while back? When Kobo announced their new lineup last week they said their new device didn't use that tech as it would be a bit before it was available en masse. Wondering if the new Kindle does use it.

EDIT: never mind, it does use Carta epaper technology, so there may be noticeable improvement. We'll see. Last edited by Julius Caesar; 09-03-2013 at 01:47 PM. |

I want to wait until I know if we can side load fonts, and how hackable it is

The product page is up as are the preorder buttons. The product page says it will start shipping September 30.

Hopefully there's a firmware upgrade for current paperwhites to integrate goodreads.
