New E-reader...

Strand is a very old and well-known bookstore in New York City. Offering new and used books, it’s a browsers paradise. Alas, change comes to us all...

...or does it?

I think, it's for the 1st of April

But a good way to explain why (for them) an e-reader never replace a paper book.

I like the 'Infinite Battery Life'.

Pretty funny. I got an ad in my email from Redbox touting streaming movies at select kiosks. "Come early to reserve a good spot on the sidewalk."

lol. I think they are using a little satire to poke fun at ebooks.

My favourite bit was: "Strindle WILL dissolve in water - just like a real book"

I shudder to think how many paper books it takes to make one vial of concentrated Vintage Book Musk Oil©.

...and perhaps it is possible to increase yield by storing the books in a humid and warm climate, to get some mold and fungi going?

And then let some cultured booklice, silverfish, mice and roaches have access to the books for a while.

And if they're adding an odoriser then e-books could be written to use it: jungle smells to go with Tarzan books, dead-body smells to go with murder mysteries. The possibilities are endless.

Best of all, the Strindle comes pre-loaded with every book in the store....

I looked in on the Strand many years ago, and was like a dog in a field full of rabbits-- didn't know which one to chase. I stayed at an equivalently distinctive hotel, at E 25th and 3rd, called the Carlton Arms. $25 a night, who was I to complain. No lift, no room service, baths down the corridor. The place was consantly being redecorated by students at the Baruch art college opposite. My room was a brave stab at Mondrian. The corrisor, painted black, was ornamented with Egyprian bas-reliefs, clearly moulded from life, fitted with Egyptian head dresses and painted in gold, lapis lazulii etc.

Memorable, like the Strand.
