Just pointing it out because just mentioning colour seems to skew the solution a bit. Of course, any subset of the solution/s is then usable.
Thing is, I'm happy with my e-Ink readers. And my tablet is a cheap Fire ($35 on sale) which I hardly use but works when I need it. I've never paid more than $75 for an eReader (and that was my first Nook Simple Touch) so $400 or $500 for a reflective color tablet has no appeal to me. Battery life is good on my eReaders and (as you mention) for "sequential book reading" they work well. And that's what I use them for. I realize everyone has different uses for their devices and that's fine also. I just wonder how many of those who use eBook readers are looking for color screens, even though (as you say) ClearINK provides more than just color screens.

Very similar to the Clearink technology here is a recent review of the Pixel Qi screen (apparently made by a company named Tripuso Displays) :

Oh, I thought Pixel Qi was dead a long time ago. Did someone buy up the tech and is giving it a shot again?

Pixel Qi technology is essentially dead. But there is still one company licensed to make them.

The big difference between Pixel Qi and ClearInk (from a user's point of view) is that the Pixel Qi is only a colour display when backlit. The ClearInk display can be a sunlight-readable colour display.

Hoping it's amazon with deep pockets. Young students really need this device for reading and filling out worksheets. It would save a ton of paper. And could have huge cost saving benefits for schools that get free books or make their own textbooks (at $50-$100 per textbook). Could pay for itself quickly.

Yes you could use an lcd tablet. But they don’t necessarily last a full 8 hours of school, especially if the backlight is turned up due to bright overhead lights. Plus, if these are mass produced they might be cheaper than the current $400 for an ipad with pencil.

The discussion about the health benefits or otherwise of reflective displays has been moved to its own thread.

Don't really care for a 6 inch color e-reader.

But I very much care about an (e-paper based), affordable monitor-like device.
Something similar to the Onyx Max 2 series but reasonably priced (and maybe with better functionality).

Willing to throw my money at the company who'll make this.

Do you mean that any message that eink is transmitting has been obscured by the stronger message of messages being mobile?

No, I simply mean that paper brings mobility, electronics bring Turing machine based support systems, with a possibly strong dynamical side, and that electronic paper is supposed to increase the aspects of processed information for mobile consumption in the message.

With subdifferences:
-- EPD: contemplation of processed data;
-- Reflective: access and processing on the spot;
-- AR: seamless access and possible automated integration between information and environment.

Of course, some here will note, Reflective is not strictly needed, "LCD" can work. Yes, others will reply, improperly, as a patch, like a saw can work for a file and a file for a saw.

--

Not to be a pedant, but if you write 'eink' people will probably think of MIT/Taiwan. And you are posting for Eindhoven...

8 inch display... as a student I would appreciate it, however, looks not very convenient for the every day transportation. We'll see.
