Very similar to the Clearink technology here is a recent review of the Pixel Qi screen (apparently made by a company named Tripuso Displays) :

Pixel Qi technology is essentially dead. But there is still one company licensed to make them.
The big difference between Pixel Qi and ClearInk (from a user's point of view) is that the Pixel Qi is only a colour display when backlit. The ClearInk display can be a sunlight-readable colour display. |

Hoping it's amazon with deep pockets. Young students really need this device for reading and filling out worksheets. It would save a ton of paper. And could have huge cost saving benefits for schools that get free books or make their own textbooks (at $50-$100 per textbook). Could pay for itself quickly.

Yes you could use an lcd tablet. But they don’t necessarily last a full 8 hours of school, especially if the backlight is turned up due to bright overhead lights. Plus, if these are mass produced they might be cheaper than the current $400 for an ipad with pencil.

Don't really care for a 6 inch color e-reader.
But I very much care about an (e-paper based), affordable monitor-like device. Something similar to the Onyx Max 2 series but reasonably priced (and maybe with better functionality). Willing to throw my money at the company who'll make this. |

With subdifferences: -- EPD: contemplation of processed data; -- Reflective: access and processing on the spot; -- AR: seamless access and possible automated integration between information and environment. Of course, some here will note, Reflective is not strictly needed, "LCD" can work. Yes, others will reply, improperly, as a patch, like a saw can work for a file and a file for a saw. -- Not to be a pedant, but if you write 'eink' people will probably think of MIT/Taiwan. And you are posting for Eindhoven... |

8 inch display... as a student I would appreciate it, however, looks not very convenient for the every day transportation. We'll see.
