How long does it take for a book to show as for sale on Kindle?

Hi I finished getting my book published on Kindle and received a "ready" reading in the dashboard. I have not heard anything else from kindle and the book is not listed when I do a search on the kindle sales site at amazon. Can anyone tell me if I need to do something else? It has been two days since I got the "ready" notice in my dashboard.

Hi Lilac, when you are creating a book on kindle, you work on a page kindle refers to as a dashboard. This page is the "home" to you while you go through the various steps in posting a book to kindle, such as entering the cover pic, copy and so on. In my case I have completed each step and the dashboard showed a ready indicator. If this is not clear I will send you a link to my dashboard so you can see it for yourself. OK Lilac thanks for your interest, Ed.

Oh so anyone can make a Kindle book? That is cool.

Maybe it will take a few days for approval?

I suggest looking at Indie Publishing to the Kindle. It might take 3 days apparently.

I found out what the delay was. Although I had received the "ready" notice, I did not realize there was a "publish" button on the dashboard page that needed to be activated to start the final process. I have now done that and should be on my way. Thanks, Ed.
