batch delete html files
I need to delete all html files with *000.html. Is there an easier way to delete them other than pressing CTRL+click on every single file? there are close to thousand of them...

Here's a few various ways I can think of:
1. Shift+Click highlights all files between two clicks. 2. Tools > Reports > HTML Files. If your "_000" split files are all very tiny, you should be able to sort by File Size and see them all appear there. Then do a nice Shift+Click to highlight, then Right+Click > Delete From Book. 3. Unzip the EPUB (it's just a specially put-together ZIP file), open the files in Explorer, then search + delete. Create new EPUB and reimport all those files in? 4) with regex rename you can add a common prefix like AAAA so that they are all grouped together on top, then mark them with click/shift click and delete them.

IIRC you can use the Report Generator to delete
Sort by file size will probably work: Shift click to select: Then ctrl-click if you need to de-select |

If I could delete nearly 1000 xhtml files from one epub and still have some left over, my very first step would be to choose a different epub to work on.

You see this from mobi files when there are blank lines that may have been formatted as headings, and then converted by something which splits it at those heads. Giving you a bunch of blank files.
Anyway, if there are chapter heads as h tags, then I just merge all these files into one. Then use S&R to delete the blank headings, then insert a split marker before each remaining heading. Then split at markers and regenerate the TOC. Take care if there are links, like footnotes. Merging may break those. Last edited by AlanHK; 09-15-2021 at 04:11 AM. |
