Perhaps the French should not allow any store, market or stall to occupy more than 200 square feet or have more than 50 different products or have more than 1 employee who would personally fetch, wrap, accept only cash and hand the customer their product that must be hand carried back to their residence. That would provide jobs for a multitude of shop workers.

Yup, Amazon took out all the Indie Book Stores in the US. Not Barnes and Nobles or Borders, Amazon. And they continue to diminish in number even though there are a multitude of reports that Indie Book Stores that are increasing in number and doing pretty well.

Damn that evil Amazon

Nonsense. The anti-Amazon law has been amply covered in the press here, as has the Sarkozy scandal, the trials and tribulations of the Hollande government, the Dieudonné business, the ecotax protests, and many of the other goings on in France.

Maybe she never reads the papers.

I consider it appropriate that a country be able to determine it's own trading laws. If Amazon (or any other company) doesn't want to comply with the trading laws of France then they can cease to trade there.
