The value of the class attribute (class="blahblahblah") of the html tag on line 21 of that temporary file created by <insert ePub creation software here>'s conversion process is invalid. Which unfortunately doesn't really help you find the issue within your original source document. If you have access to that tmp_blah.html file, it might give you some clues where—in the original document—the problem might be.

And the class attribute is invalid because it is not a list of one or more items, each of them conforming to what a NMLTOKEN should be, probably because it contains invalid characters (maybe non-ASCII characters).

The meatgrinder is a Word document to ePub via some version Calibre. And as the saying goes, Garbage in. Garbage out. and the Word document is chock full of garbage.

If the OP is here, I'd like the OP to petition Smashwords to allow ePub uploaded directly.

Also, the filenames of the files in the ePub are truly nasty.

That was my first clue about smashwords (if it is, in fact, a smashwords-produced document). Those file names seem typical of what other meatgrinder victims have posted.

@Adjust: I think the attraction of Smashwords for individual authors is that it provides entree to distributors such as Apple iBooks, which would normally be difficult for an indie author to get into. Just guessing, though.
