An Agent of the King - a new Napoleonic Wars hero - Nigel Slater
Just published for Kindle is my first completed novel introducing a new hero to rival Sharpe. Working in the little known real life world of espionage in Georgian London.
Beginning in Egypt and the Battle of Aboukir bay the story moves from London to Spain and back again. I hope I have created a believable, likeable and human hero. I have tried to be realistic without being slavish to historical accuracy and thrown in a bit of raunch for fun |

I hope you consider publishing via Smashwords or similar so I can get an epub--this sort of thing is right up my alley!

Sounds excellent. Napoleonic and Revolutionary Wars are a big interest of mine.

I have published on Kindle for both UK and Worldwide but the problem with Smashwords and others is that they are American which causes serious financial problems in that roylties are paid in US$ and the IRS stops tax automatically

Not mention of course that bastards use Kindle as a library, buy the book, read it then get a refund. Well done Amazon, another winner!

Seems it is American for tax purposes which means registering with the IRS to avoid tax being witheld.
Will try smashwords though need to design a cover first. Utterly fed up with Kindle refunders |

A very helpful chap has identified a formatting issue with my book on KIndle so that can now be sorted hopefully. He has also designed a cover for me!

Sounds a bit like 'The Scarlet Pimpernel', not that it's a bad thing. I'm also interested in that period of history, and I'll keep an eye out for the release of an EPUB version.

People cannot just read a book and get a refund, unless, of course, they have a valid reason, such as missing chapters, very poor formatting, very poor editing etc... The book has to extremely bad for Amazon to refund peoples money.

I understand that you may not wish to disclose where you live, but if your country has a tax treaty with US then IRS is not an issue. Most EU countries are at 0% withholding tax for royalties on books.
