Are the images vector graphics? IIRC Mobi doesn't support vector graphics. I don't think it supports .tiff's either, don't know if Calibre would automatically convert to .jpeg or not.
EDIT: According to the Mobipocket, Mobi supports GIF, BMP and JPEG formats only. Last edited by AnemicOak; 05-27-2010 at 09:30 AM. |

so, i'm assuming that Calibre would convert images to suitable formats for MOBi, but they are deleted.

I don't know if Calibre would convert the images or not.
You could try using Mobipocket Creator and seeing if that will do what you want (but if they're vector images I don't think it will). Othewise you'll need to deconstruct the PDF (with Acrobat Pro or another program) and build your book from there. Last edited by AnemicOak; 05-27-2010 at 01:31 PM. |

I don't know what's out for PDF editing software for Linux, but there's probably something that will let you export to HTML and export the images (which could then be converted to one of the formats Mobi uses). You could then build your book in Sigil as an ePub and convert that. Just an idea, guess it depends on how much work you want to go through. |
