Version 1.3.0

So, here's another update.

New features:
  • Different display style (font) for collections and "normal" items
  • Indicator of how many collections an item is contained in
  • Long-click on an item to see which collections it is contained in
  • Preferences are saved across restarts
  • Search filters are reset after changing the current collection
  • Search filters now consider author names as well! (So a filter of "oyl" will still yield "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes"). This is a feature, not a bug
  • ... and some bugfixes under the hood

Note: I have carefully considered all the remarks and requests that were posted in this thread. Many of the requests are addressed by this update; some aren't. For the ones which weren't addressed: rest assured that there is a good reason for not implementing them

Nope, no changes on that front. Collections Manager is pretty much an experiment which tries to be as language-neutral (and intuitive) as possible, by using graphical stuff as much as possible. Alas, a few things still need menu items and text, but I'm trying to keep them to a minimum.

Version 1.3.1

Bugfix release: author determination was incorrect in 1.3.0, which may have had some nasty side effects - sorry.

@ixtab, thanks for implementing my suggestion. this great app is now even greater

but I have one bug to report. I've encountered at least 3 times when the filter input box disappeared. can't remember what led to this. will report with more details if the problem occurs again.

Thank you ixtab for this incredible application, it turns K5 into a much more powerful device.

I have one suggestion for the future: enabling a select/deselect all feature when you are inside a collection. A single box at the beginning of the list would be enough. I imported all my collection of Photography books from Calibre, but then had to mark one by one to toggle visibility from then Initial page. It wasn't the 12 labors of Hercules, but it would be definitely easier with this feature.

Anyway, thanks a lot for your current work, and will be looking forward to the next releases.

Thumbs up

Indeed a great app. Finally decided to try it out along with the JBPatch. Now can continue to manage all my books through Calibre thanks to it. Keep it up, "Mayan Goddess"

Version 1.3.2

This version adds the feature to toggle the selections for all currently displayed items.
Note: this really means the displayed items, not necessarily all items in the current collection - items which are on other "pages" of the collection are not affected.

In addition, I also built in a nice little easter egg
Spoiler:

No, I'm not going to tell you what it is. After all, that's what easter eggs are all about. It's not terribly hard to find though, either by accident, or by looking at the changeset. I hope you enjoy it if you find it. But please don't spoil the fun by openly discussing it here or disclosing it to others.

Hmm... you'd need to look at the changeset and examine the source code. Using only the source code, finding out what it does should be relatively easy; but finding out when exactly it is triggered is probably an advanced exercise

Found the easter egg by looking at the source code - nice

CM still working very nice. Nested collections are perfect for separating novels and university stuff

Would it be possible to make an extension for include the access to the "Collections Manager" as a submenu in the Menu Launcher? In the same way that the jbpatch-launcher. If we toggle the icon from Home we can't acces to the Manager, isn't it?

Yes! Here you go. Just don't delete Collections Manager, place it in a collection then hide it with collection manager. It won't hide without being in a collection.
