Reading "eBook Reader" files on other devices?

I have recently found a book that I have been searching for on ebooks.com. Alas, their proprietary reader, eBook Reader (a name which makes searching for specific info nearly impossible!), is not up to scratch (you can only change the font to one serif font and the line spacing in 25% increments) so I need to export the book file, de-DRM it and convert it. I think the files are Adobe DRM with 32 character hex-numerical names.

Has anyone worked with these "eBook Reader" files?

Do I need to do any more than copy the file into Calibre and cook it accordingly? Answer: I do - the book is stored (on Android) in /data/data/com.ebooks.ebooksreader/files/books/(32 character hex-numerical name but with no file extension) and fail if dragged into the Adobe Digital Editions (which doesn't ask me for my Adobe ID...).

I have never used ebooks.com. However, it looks like you will have to go to your "My Account" page on the ebooks.com website and download the acsm file for ADE, not the download to their App. When you open this file in ADE it will then download the book to ADE, as an epub or pdf. If you have Calibre set up to remove DRM, importing this book will give you a DRM free copy. If not visit Apprentice Alf or Apprentice Harper.

Now you have made a purchase with eBooks.com, or redeemed a voucher given to you, you will have your ebook listed under your "My account" page.

Depending on the formats that your ebook is available in (check the formats guide), and the device that you want to read it on (check the device guide), you can read your ebook in different ways.

Darryl, thanks very much. I followed your advice (RTFM, basically and I'm very grateful for you finding what had sadly eluded me) and suddenly I can read my book on both my Kindle and FB Reader.
