Kindle for iOS

I haven't owned an iOS device before but bought the new iPad Pro 9.7 and off course installed the Kindle app immediately. I have access to my complete library. But the Kindle Store won't allow me to buy any books. They offer only Kinde Unlimited. Is this because Apple doesn't allow any other stores than iTunes and AppStore?

You can't buy books from the app. You need to go to the Amazon web site from the iPad's web browser and buy your books from that. This is because of the charge Apple impose on the app producer for "in app purchases".

'read.amazon.com' combines Cloud Reader (with offline reading capability) and Kindle Store optimized for iOS browsers (at least Safari and Chrome). You can purchase, borrow, and return KU titles. With Safari you can save it to your home screen with 'Kindle Store' icon.
