That's why I switched from my kindle fire hd to nook hd & hd+. Sick of the carousel. I could deal with it until they broke the ability to add custom wallpaper to a launcher. I have come to realize I also really like the physical home button, as well as the SD card slot. So, no interest here in the latest and greatest Kindle Fire. We'll keep the HD7.

I want the Google apps. . .
I pretty much run my life with them, if it won't run them, it's no sale for me. I know, Google is evil, but it's an evil I can live with.

The reason Qualcomm calls it an S4 pro is purely arbitrary, and is related to its clockspeed. At 1.7Ghz it's a Snapdragon 600. Drop it to 1.5, and it becomes an S4 Pro. Despite the fact that the hardware is entirely the same. |

http://www.anandtech.com/show/7176/n...-mini-review/4 For the new Nexus 7 they decided to call it an S4 Pro but it's more like a more like a lower-binned or underclocked Snapdragon 600. They "bin" processors when they don't quite meet the spec but still want to use the silicon. AMD/Intel has done this for ages (dual-core chips with 2 more cores enable-able with extra voltage, CPUs with cache disabled, etc). |
