Fixed Layout for Kindle Not Working

Hello,

I hope someone can help me. I'm making corrections to a fixed layout cookbook. The original epub and mobi files worked on iPad & KF. I cracked the epub, made changes (moving paragraphs that overlapped); validated then tested. The updated epub continues to work as a fixed-layout book on iPad but the fixed-layout mobi acts like a reflowable mobi. It no longer covers two pages and the pop ups have disappeared. I had to add a viewpoint detail to one file but otherwise made no changes to the metadata. I updated my Kindlegen but that makes no difference to the output.

What have I missed? Is there a certain way to convert the epub to mobi that I've overlooked?

You might be missing meta tags, could you post the content.opf and an html file's code?

Thanks for your reply Odedta - I appreciate you reaching out to me.

I found a video on lynda.com about preparing FXL for kindle. This really showed me that fixed layout epub and fixed layout mobi are very different. Essentially the mobi format is set up much differently than epub so the epub file I had could not be used to modify for mobi. If I had the source files for the mobi, I could have done the edits required.

The publisher re-evaluated the fxl mobi and converted it to reflowable mobi.
