Reading ePub without iBooks?

It seems that when the iPad arrives in the UK, it will be minus the iBooks application.
GoodReader looks like it is the recommended app for PDF reading, but what would users suggest for ePub books (non-DRM), if iBooks is not available?

All the iPads are missing the iBooks app. It must be downloaded using iTunes but it is free.

It's not yet clear if the iBooks app will be available for download from the UK App Store.

I've updated the wiki. I personally use readMe. Works pretty well.

It is easy to sign up for a US itunes account. You can then download ibooks. You just won't be able to buy any paid apps - unless you get a US address credit card or a US Itunes gift card. So you won't be able to purchase from the ibooks store, but you will be able to use the reader.

The only downside to doing this is in order to install any app updates, you have to be signed into the account (within itunes) that downloaded the app.

Can you try the ePub version of Three Men in a Boat that is on MR? Bookshelf made a real mess of it.

I am in Canada and I have had an iPad for a couple of weeks. Using a Canadian iTunes account will not work with the iPad so you have to create a US based account. For purchasing apps I have found that a MAstercard Vanilla gift card works as a payment option. These cards appear to be treated as US credit cards. As foghat mentioned a US iTunes gift card should also work.

I've just tested readMe. Nice, but has some limitations. One major limitation: it does not support hyperlinks. I'm reading a book with many notes. Jumping to the notes section and rejumping afterwards is not possible. You have to go to the TOC, then to the notes, then back ...
In IbisReader or Stanza notes work as they should.

Stanza is too flawed to be of use.
