Both of these Penabled pens from Wacom work fine with the edge:

Penabled Tablet Pc Eraser Pen
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ef=oss_product
Wacom UP-710E-00A (UPC 753218995780)
as of 3 April, 2010, $33.88 at amazon

Penabled Tablet Pc Clip Pen
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ef=oss_product
Wacom UP-712-00AA (UPC 753218995773)
as of 3 April, 2010, $25.47 at amazon

As I understand it, "Penabled" is Wacom's designation for computer input displays which the edge uses. While many dedicated graphics tablets appear to use the same wireless/battery-less technology, I've found the pens for those tablets are rarely "Penabled" compatible. (and vice versa).

The edge (currently) does not support the eraser input of the first, more expensive pen listed above. So, the only real reason to spend more money would be if you have another device that supports the eraser and/or hope that support will be added to the edge. (Eraser support WOULD be a nice addition to the edge Journal app.) Save money and buy the cheaper Penabled pen. The cheaper one also comes with a built-in clip, so it is less likely to get lost.

I wonder if these will work:

What do you guys think? I might just take the plunge after my vacation and buy it and see if it works or not.

Is the stylus really Penabled? I didn't see anything that said it is though I did look rather quick. At that price it seems unlikely. The edge stylus might look like a plastic stick, but it (and other replacements) are relatively expensive because there are a bunch of little coils and metal loops tucked inside the things.

I do't think it'll work with the eInk side, but probably be great for the lcd (am a little concerned about reviews of stylus being sharp).

Yeah, I think I will use one of those stylus with rubber tips (that works on my iphone) on the LCD side. I tried using that on my Edge last night and it works beautifully better than my fingers as it was a pain to scroll down since it keeps on jumping everywhere.

The Wacom Penabled pens work fine on the LCD side, too.

Boris I wonder if those might be available on eBay or somewhere else cheap. Maybe you can dig up a part code. I bought one of the pens from Amazon but at $25 it's a bit pricey.

I did my own quick search and they all seem to be expensive.

Hey, after reading this post I tried a dummy stylus and then my stylus from my hp tx-2510 and lo and behold the latter worked. Hmmph. This was unexpected and the only part that worked was the stylus. (Not the eraser or mouse button. I did not expect it to, just wanted to clarify.)

I have a Dell XT, as well as 2 Wacom devices (1 bamboo and the other intuous 2). The pens that came with those devices are not recognized by the eReader side. No recognition to "turn" pages, make annotations, are mark the journal pages. What specifications should we look for in finding a pen replacement?

This also works on the eInk screen:

The pen that comes with the Motion Computing LE1700 tablet PC works.

Motion Computing Item Description:
504.500.01
Additional Digitizer Pen - L-Series.
As of 10 April 2010 $34.99 from the Motion Computing store.

https://store.motioncomputing.com/TA...elID=3&TabID=1
http://www.motioncomputing.com/choose/spec_pen_L.htm

This pen is larger and heavier than the generic Penabled pens from Wacom in the original post. The LE1700 pen is sized like a nice, executive pen with rubber grip in the right place. In the size vs heft category the LE1700 actually feels more substantial and rugged than the Wacom pens. The LE1700 pen also has a lanyard hole in the end, so it can be tied to something to prevent it being lost. Also, considering the Amazon price for a much more cheap feeling pen (with eraser), this is only $1 more from Motion Computing.

kenjennings is this the pen that came with you intuos3? If it is, it works with the eDGe right? Also how comfortable is it to write with?

boris, I see you live in Canada, where did you get the standard Wacom pen from? I am finding it difficult to find a website that will ship it to Canada.

No, I found out from the person I got the tablet that I don't have an OEM pen for the Intuos. It's something else without buttons. No numbers on it, so we don't know where it came from. I hardly use the tablet, so I forgot about the pen. Disregard the stupid Ken trick. I'll delete the description to avoid any further confusion.

However, the LE1700 pen does work fine and has a good, ergonomic feel.
