For those who are not upgrading
What is the reason why you are not buying an upgrade? If you do not find your answer in the poll, this means that I did not think of it and please write your answer in the thread following the poll.

I've owned a K3, K4, PW1 & currently a PW2. While I have enjoyed them all and each was more or less and upgrade from the previous model, the cost was small enough (especially with a trade-in) I didn't think twice about upgrading.
But for me the Voyage cost vs. value ratio is just too high to justify upgrading. I love my PW2 and it is clearly the best kindle I've owned but when I bought it last year I felt the $140 cost (WiFi, no SO) was about the limit I would pay for an e-reader and I still feel that way today. If the Voyage would have been offered at around $150 I would have ordered one but at $220 I feel it is over-priced and will just stick with my PW2. The 25% reduction in battery life is also very disappointing to me. Of course if Amazon were to offer a significantly higher trade-in for the PW2 or if the reviews of the Voyage are over the top great I'll probably be temped to at least order one and try it but for now now plans to upgrade. |

I'm not upgrading because Amazon hasn't made a flex screen waterproof Kindle. I want an outdoor Kindle. Until then, my indoor K4S still works great (my poll answer).

I'm cheap and lazy and my K2 still works perfectly well for reading the few Mobi & Topaz books I've bought directly from Amazon as well as most of the freebies I was interested in actually trying and my Sony has been fine with all the ePubs I've thrown at it thus far. It might be nice to have a smaller/lighter/larger-screened device than my relatively clunky older models, but that's not enough of a reason for me personally to upgrade and I'm quite satisfied with them.
Perhaps if one day in the future a new and improved e-book format/usability features that's so much significantly better that I have to get a new device to enjoy it portably comes out, then I'll get another one. But until then, the way I see it, the less money I spend on new devices I technically don't need, the more money I have available to spend on booze and porn e-books to read on the ones I already have. |

I like the new Voyage, but not enough to pay that price. I like the page turn buttons and I like the hands free case you can put it in. That's not enough incentive to give up my PW1. The main thing I wanted in my ereader was a light for nighttime reading, which I already have. If they go down quite a bit in price, I may consider the Voyage in the future.

I chose the third option. Weeks (ok, months ) go by without me picking up my Paperwhite. I do almost all my reading on the iPad. I made some vague resolution to reserve my fiction reading for the PW but (with Dropbox/Copy and the Marvin and Kindle iOS apps) it's so much more convenient to use the iPad. A couple of friends have expressed interest in buying the PW but I'm holding on to it for those rare occasions when I'll have cause to be reading in the sun.
While I'm not interested in upgrading my ereader, I'm definitely interested in upgrading to a newer iPad model. My iPad works perfectly fine but a couple weeks ago it fell and now both bottom edges are dented. The dents are hidden by the cover and I don't see them at all but it's driving me crazy knowing they're there. My main problem now is trying to decide who to pass on my iPad to when I upgrade |

It's a combination of things really...I'm happy enough with my PW2 and it gets plenty of use. I really, really want the page turn buttons and bigger memory which I still miss so much from the K3 and the increased resolution would be nice. However at £169 it's just out of that impulse purchase range; and for that money Amazon still won't let me use my own screensavers or do much with fonts I might decide to order one in a few months, but right now it doesn't tempt me enough.

I've got a K3 and a Nexus 7 that both work well, so I just don't feel like I need another device. But I'm lusting after that Voyage - if I didn't already have so many devices I'd have already ordered it.

My Chromebook is dent proof, 'cuz it's made out of cheap plastic. I tested it the other day by letting it slip out of its case onto a hard floor two feet below.
