Drain while shut down.
I have two PRS-T1 readers. My secondary unit has never held a charge as long as the one I normally use.
Based on suggestions here I try to keep the unused reader partially charged to protect the battery. The problem I'm running into is even shut down, after three weeks the battery is completely drained... which is about how long the reader I use daily lasts on a charge before getting to the last bar. Is that normal? Is there something I can do to slow that drain beyond shutting it down? It just seems a bit fast. |

I would guess that the battery has gone bad. I have a T1 that I don't use much, and it keeps its charge for months when shut down. I don't think the batteries can be reconditioned, but maybe a web search can give better advice.

Agreed. It's 5 years old. That's a typical lifespan for a lithium battery.

If it's never held a charge the same as your other T1, it must be a faulty battery or one that has just gone bad. Since no longer being used regularly, my Sony PRS-350 often goes a month without charge and while it does deplete, the battery hasn't ever been completely drained. In use its battery drains quicker than any other reader I've had though, and I had to remove PRS+ as it had a really adverse effect on the battery.

Thanks guys. That's what I was afraid of.
I might look into replacing the battery myself just for laughs. I can't imagine there is much after market for these anymore... especially with a failing battery. |

It is easy to find on line instructions how to open Sony PRS-T1 and source of new Battery. First watch a youtube video showing how to teardown your Sony PRS-T1.
