Kobo Doesn't Support EAP Wireless?

My university uses EAP for its wireless network.

My Samsung tablet can detect and connect to the network with no problems.

But my Kobo Glo cannot even detect the wireless network at all.

Is there anyway to get the Kobo Glo to connect to a EAP wireless network?

First, I'd check with the campus IT department, you're probably not the first with such a problem. If they don't have a ready made solution, if you have a fairly new PC, you can download a program designed to rebroadcast an internet connection using your WiFi card or built-in WiFi so it looks like a router rather than a peer to peer network and your Kobo should be able to pick that up -but, check with the IT dept. first, they may have policies against "re-broadcasting" or setting up your own private networks.

Or simply use the PC based Kobo software to download and transfer books. Or find a local coffee house, or fast food joint that has free WiFi.

EAP is an authentication framework, not a specific authentication mechanism. It provides some common functions and negotiation of authentication methods called EAP methods. There are currently about 40 different methods defined
I think you need a bit more information about the actual authentication method used to make progress on this - authentication clearly isn't the problem if your device cannot even "see" the network. Either the network doesn't broadcast its SSID or possibly (as I have come across in another context) the SSID contains non alpha-numeric characters such as an apostrophe, some devices refuse to accept such SSIDs as valid.

If you have a Samsung Tablet that can see the network could you put something like the INSSIDER app on it to find out more about the network ? The Wi-Fi Analyser app is also good for displaying the authentication supported by the AP you are trying to connect to.

BobC

The network name contains a "-" in the SSID.

The network uses the following settings:

EAP type: PEAP
Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPv2
University Username and Password is required

Unless something has changed in the last year, Kobo e-readers DO NOT support EAP.
