This month's Samsung Book Deals are out! For more info on how this all works, check out Amazon's info page. Here's this month's selections:

The Adversary (A Chris Bruen Novel) by Reece Hirsch (Regular Price: $3.99) [Genres: Fiction, Thriller, Mystery]
Quote:
Former DOJ cybercrimes prosecutor Chris Bruen walks into a dark apartment in Amsterdam to confront a hacker known as Black Vector. The hacker has stolen the source code for the world’s most ubiquitous operating system, which powers everything from personal computers to the NSA’s data centers. This should have been a routine assignment for Bruen, but instead of obtaining a confession, Bruen finds the hacker’s dead body and uncovers a hidden flash drive that contains the code for a remarkably sophisticated computer virus known as Lurker.

Upon his return home to San Francisco, Bruen finds himself the target of a shadowy group of hackers who plan on unleashing Lurker, which will bring a major US city to its knees in seven days. Bruen doesn’t know why he’s the target, but the answers seem to lie somewhere in his troubled past. Suddenly, Bruen is framed as the planner of the cyberattack, making him the top suspect in an international manhunt. Bruen must stay ahead of the FBI and CIA in a race across Europe while he tries to decode the virus, find the hackers, and clear his name. With the lives of tens of thousands of people hanging in the balance, and his own life about to be destroyed, Bruen must go beyond the brink to stop the hackers.

She Who Remembers by Linda Lay Shuler (Regular Price: $3.99) [Genres: Historical Fiction, Fantasy, Romance]
Quote:
In an ancient time of fear and superstition, she stood apart because of her unusual blue eyes. In a land of great stone cities and trackless wilderness, she sought her own unique path. But it was with the clan that accepted her—and in the heart of the magic man who saved her—that she found her ultimate destiny. Her name was Kwani. But legend would call her She Who Remembers...

The Mongoliad (The Mongoliad Cycle Book 1) by Greg Bear, Neal Stephenson & others (Regular Price: $3.99) [Genres: Science Fiction & Fantasy, Historical Fiction]
Quote:
With bonus material! This Kindle edition features extra content only found in the Collector’s Edition of The Mongoliad: Book One, including an illustrated character glossary, a Foreworld map, and Sinner, a prequel to the Mongoliad series.

The first novel to be released in The Foreworld Saga, The Mongoliad: Book One, is an epic-within-an-epic, taking place in 13th century. In it, a small band of warriors and mystics raise their swords to save Europe from a bloodthirsty Mongol invasion. Inspired by their leader (an elder of an order of warrior monks), they embark on a perilous journey and uncover the history of hidden knowledge and conflict among powerful secret societies that had been shaping world events for millennia.

But the saga reaches the modern world via a circuitous route. In the late 19th century, Sir Richard F. Burton, an expert on exotic languages and historical swordsmanship, is approached by a mysterious group of English martial arts aficionados about translating a collection of long-lost manuscripts. Burton dies before his work is finished, and his efforts were thought lost until recently rediscovered by a team of amateur archaeologists in the ruins of a mansion in Trieste, Italy. From this collection of arcana, the incredible tale of The Mongoliad was recreated.

Full of high adventure, unforgettable characters, and unflinching battle scenes, The Mongoliad ignites a dangerous quest where willpower and blades are tested and the scope of world-building is redefined.

A note on this edition: The Mongoliad began as a social media experiment, combining serial story-telling with a unique level of interaction between authors and audience during the creative process. Since its original iteration, The Mongoliad has been restructured, edited, and rewritten under the supervision of its authors to create a more cohesive reading experience and will be published as a trilogy of novels. This edition is the definitive edition and is the authors' preferred text.

To Seduce an Earl by Lori Brighton (Regular Price: $3.99) [Genres: Fiction, Romance, Historical Romance]
Quote:
For years, Alex Weston has plied his trade at Lavender Hills, an all-male brothel catering to London’s most fashionable women. His beauty and sexual prowess are legendary, yet his charmed life masks an ugly truth. Alex is a prisoner in a gilded cage, blackmailed into service and desiring only freedom—until the night she walks through his door…

Grace Brisbane is desperate. Her dying mother needs medicine she cannot afford, and her dissolute stepbrother is gambling away what little money remains. Her only hope of saving her family is to marry the Earl of Rodrick, her brother’s wealthy best friend. There’s just one problem: Rodrick has no interest in virgins. To win him, Grace must learn the secrets of seduction. Secrets Alex knows all too well…

It should be a simple business transaction. And yet with a single kiss, Grace ignites a passion unlike any Alex has ever known…and unlike any she could ever imagine. They are not free to love—but their hearts will accept nothing less.

This month's Samsung Book Deals are out! For more info on how this all works, check out Amazon's info page. Here's this month's selections:

Romulus Buckle & the City of the Founders (The Chronicles of the Pneumatic Zeppelin Book 1) by Richard Ellis Preston Jr. (Regular Price: $4.99) [Genres: Steampunk, Fantasy, Young Adult]
Quote:
In a post-apocalyptic world of endless snow, eighteen-year-old Captain Romulus Buckle and the stalwart crew of the Pneumatic Zeppelin must embark on a perilous mission to rescue their kidnapped leader, Balthazar Crankshaft, from the impenetrable City of the Founders. Steaming over a territory once known as Southern California–before it was devastated in the alien war–Buckle navigates his massive airship through skies infested with enemy war zeppelins and ravenous alien beasties in this swashbuckling and high-octane steampunk adventure. Life is desperate in the Snow World–and death is quick–Buckle and his ship’s company must brave poisoned wastelands of noxious mustard and do battle with forgewalkers, steampipers and armored locomotives as they plunge from the skies into the underground prison warrens of the fortress-city.

Captain Romulus Buckle must lead the Pneumatic Zeppelin and its crew of never-do-wells on a desperate mission where he must risk everything to save Balthazar and attempt to prevent a catastrophic war which could wipe out all that is left of civilization and the entire human race.

Kissed by Darkness (Sunwalker Saga Book 1) by Shéa MacLeod (Regular Price: $3.99) [Genres: Urban Fantasy, Paranormal (Vampires), Romance]
Quote:
Three years ago, Morgan Bailey narrowly survived a vampire attack that left her with heightened senses, uncanny speed, and a new calling: supernatural bounty hunter. Since that day, sexy, street-smart Morgan hasn’t met a vampire she couldn’t dust or a demon she couldn’t kill—until she’s hired to hunt down a priceless amulet and the sunwalker who stole it. Sunwalkers—powerful vampires immune to sunlight—are notoriously difficult to find, let alone kill. Still, a job’s a job, and Morgan’s never been one to shy away from a challenge. So bring it on…right?

But the sunwalker ends up tracking her down. And not only that, he turns out to be cunning, charming—and undeniably gorgeous. Nevertheless, she can’t ignore the destruction he is capable of: the sunwalker possesses an ancient secret which, if unleashed, could destroy the human world. Captivating and fantastical, Kissed by Darkness introduces a kick-ass new heroine and an addictive new series for fans of urban fantasy.

All I Need Is You (An Over the Edge Novel) by Julia London (Regular Price: $3.99) [Genres: Romance, Contemporary Romance]
Quote:
Previously available as Wedding Survivor (Thrillseekers Anonymous series).

When a wedding planner’s first gig teams her up with a sexy stuntman, will she crash and burn…or be airlifted to love?

Tall, lithe ex-stuntman Eli McCain may speak with a Texas drawl, but this modern-day cowboy prefers hurricane windsurfing to herding cattle. Along with three friends, he cofounded Thrillseekers Anonymous, an extreme sports club that caters to the ultrarich and superfamous. But when the club agrees to stage a huge—and hugely profitable—extreme sports–themed celebrity wedding, Eli gets furious; he’s still bitter about getting jilted at the altar and wants nothing to do with veils or vows.

Copper-haired chatterbox Marnie Banks dove headfirst into wedding planning after she was laid off from a dot-com start-up. The union of megawatt stars Olivia Dagwood and Vincent Vittorio may be her first solo wedding job, but it could make all her dreams come true: She’ll make Hollywood connections. She’ll finally move out of her parents’ house. And she’ll meet a decent guy, for once.

But when the wedding turns from extreme to extremely disastrous, Eli and Marnie must work together against the elements, their bickering clients, and their own smoldering attraction to save the day. Will the sparks flying between them ignite into something real and passionate…or will they both end up burned?

Good Girl, Bad Girl (An Alex Novalis Novel Book 1) by Christopher Finch (Regular Price: $3.99) [Genres: Fiction, Mystery, Historical Fiction]
Quote:
In May of 1968, New York City is broke and on the skids, and private eye Alex Novalis is hard up for gigs. So when he’s offered a case from wealthy construction mogul Gabriel Kravitz, he can’t refuse.

Kravitz’s eighteen-year-old daughter Lydia has gone missing. Though she’s presumed to be with Jerry Pedrosian, the radical middle-aged artist and known womanizer she’d been sleeping with, there are few clues. Information is hard to come by; everyone seems to be hiding something. And then there’s Andrea Marshall, Lydia’s miniskirted and vinyl-booted best friend, who Novalis is deeply distrustful of…and unfortunately attracted to.

But as Novalis traverses the city, tracking Lydia from scummy artists’ lofts in pre-gentrified SoHo to luxury penthouses overlooking Central Park, he’ll face threats deadlier than any he signed on for.

Smart and sophisticated, Good Girl, Bad Girl provides a rare, fascinating snapshot of late 1960s New York City—a glimpse into the forbidden sex, politics, art, drugs, and counterculture violence that ran rampant in its once gloriously gritty streets.

Sorry about that, I saw your post but since it was four hours later, I thought something must have come up to prevent you posting them.

I went with Romulus Buckle, I'm not a big steampunk fan, but that book sound totally crazy.

No to worry. I'd lengthened the intervals between checking to see if the deals had gone live yet, but there are times when things come up that interfere with planned postings. More importantly: I don't have dibs on posting in this or in any other thread, and I'm glad you were on deck!

They're here!

These are the April 2015 Samsung Book Deals selections from the Kindle store (in the order in which Amazon presented them). Click on Samsung Book Deals to learn how this works.
  • Blues Highway Blues (A Crossroads Thriller - Book 1), by Eyre Price
    Quote:
    Book Description
    Publication Date: June 26, 2012
    Kindle Price: $4.99
    Genres: fiction, thriller, adventure

Winner of the Best Book of the Year awarded by Blues411

Music mogul Daniel Erickson’s life has come to a perilous crossroads. Literally. He has a ruthless pair of killers on his tail and is chasing a million dollars that he owes a Russian mobster.

Standing along the same Mississippi highway where legend claims that bluesman Robert Johnson traded his immortal soul for matchless command of the guitar, Daniel finds himself on a path that parallels the evolution of American music from the Mississippi Delta to New Orleans and on to Memphis, Nashville, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Philadelphia, the Jersey Shore, New York, and Seattle.

At every stop, Daniel’s tour gets more dangerous with the hit men closing in, an FBI agent obsessed with his capture, and a rogue motorcycle gang hunting him down. Blues Highway Blues, Eyre Price’s debut novel, is a compelling and unique combination: part edge-of-your-seat road trip across America and part examination of the music that comprises its soundtrack.
  • Henry and Rachel by Laurel Saville

    Quote:
    Book Description
    Publication Date: October 15, 2013
    Kindle Price: $3.99
    Genres: fiction, historical fiction

Brought to live with the George family as a child, all anyone knew about enigmatic Rachel was that she worked hard, making herself indispensable to the plantation. And she remained a mystery until the day she disappeared…even to her husband. Especially to her husband.

Henry was Rachel’s opposite—gregarious where she was quiet, fanciful where she was pragmatic. After years of marriage, Rachel left Henry and their oldest son without explanation and set off on a steamer for New York City with their other four children. Was her flight the ultimate act of betrayal or one of extraordinary courage? Eight characters connected by blood and circumstance reconstruct Rachel’s inexplicable vanishing act.

Weaving real family letters into this narrative of her own great-grandparents, Laurel Saville creates a historical novel of incredible depth and beauty.
  • King of Swords (The Starfolk Book 1), by Dave Duncan

    Quote:
    Book Description
    Publication Date: September 17, 2013
    Kindle Price: $4.99
    Genres: science fiction, fantasy

Rigel has always known he is not quite human, but the only clue to his origin is the otherworldly bracelet he has worn since childhood.

His search for his parentage leads him to the Starlands, where reality and fantasy have changed places. There he learns that he is a human-starborn cross, and his bracelet is the legendary magical amulet Saiph, which makes its wearer an unbeatable swordsman. Fighting off monsters, battling a gang of assassins seeking to kill him, Rigel finds honorable employment as a hero. He knows that he must die very soon if he remains in the Starlands, but he has fallen hopelessly in love with a princess and cannot abandon her.

Through the imaginative landscape of the Starlands, Rigel's quest leads him to encounter minotaurs, sphinxes, cyclops, and more fearsome creatures in Dave Duncan's latest fantasy series.
  • In Her Sights (A Montgomery Justice Novel Book 1), by Robin Perini

    Quote:
    Book Description
    Publication Date: November 29, 2011
    Kindle Price: $3.99
    Genres: fiction, romantic suspense

Jasmine “Jazz” Parker, Jefferson County SWAT's only female sniper, can thread the eye of a needle with a bullet. But she carries a secret from her past that she thought she buried for good at the age of fifteen. Two years ago she even drove away the one man she believed she could love—ex-Army Ranger turned reporter Luke Montgomery—to keep her past hidden. Now, in a fleeting second, the time it takes for one clean shot, one perfect hit, to save the life of the governor's daughter, Jazz's world begins to crumble around her.

Luke splashes her face and name across the front page of the newspaper, reawakening her past with a vengeance. A vicious enemy is now bent on destroying her life, forcing Jazz to turn to the one man she can never have in order to stop a killer before she and everyone she cares about pays the ultimate price. Full of explosive action and almost unbearable suspense, In Her Sights is a relentless, steamy thriller surprisingly infused with soul and poignancy.

I decided to go with King of Swords, although it being book one of a series kind of kills any suspense about the main character actually dying off like the summary suggests is possible.

Least objectionable in what way? I've mostly objected to them as not being worth my time. :-) I've yet to see a Samsung offer worth getting excited about.

Publication Date: March 15, 2011

After breaking off her engagement, thirty-something writing professor Andi Cutrone abandons New England for her native Long Island to focus on her career and start over. When she meets Devin at a cocktail party, the sight of an honest-to-goodness male escort shocks her—and fascinates her more than a little. Months later, Andi impulsively calls Devin. Over cheesecake in Brooklyn, she offers him a proposition: he will teach her how to be a better lover, and in return, she will give him writing lessons. He agrees, and together they embark upon an intense partnership that proves to be as instructive as it is arousing. For in the midst of lessons in rhetorical theory and foreplay, Andi and Devin delve into deeper questions about truth, beauty, and self, gradually coming face-to-face with the issues at the core of their emotional limitations. Smart, witty, and introspective, Faking It is an engrossing novel about two people discovering their authentic selves.

From BOOKS TO WATCH OUT FOR by RICHARD LABONTE, Volume 4 number 1--Adolescence is a hazardous way of life for 17-year-old Jeremy Tyler; his father died in a mysterious accident when he was a child, and his mother has since descended into alcoholic hell and forced rehab; that's when he's sent from the Fresno slums of his childhood to the posh estate of his overbearing great aunt Katherine and her censorious husband7mdash;liberated from an economic prison, only to land in an emotional one--and is overwhelmed by the change. It's not easy for him to fit into the upper crust, particularly because he's trying to hide how much he's attracted to other boys. Jeremy's story of breaking free from the strands of dishonesty, deceit, and self-doubt has its parallels to the tale of Pinocchio, but Nolan's take is totally contemporary: think the TV series The OC--girls with mean cheekbones, well-built guys with snotty attitudes, and Jeremy in the role of heartthrob Ryan Atwood. He's a good-looking kid, with a sleek swimmer's physique--and the swim team's champ is out to get him. He dates one of the smart-set girls in an attempt to keep his hormones at bay--but that doesn't do him much good. Nolan's debut novel is a kitchen sink of genres--coming of age, coming out, mystery, romance, erotica, even a dash of the supernatural--that add up to an impressive story about the passage from boyhood to manhood.
