Thank you for the release! I was able to launch the program and open a file - the toolbar disappeared so it did launch - but the zoom function(s) in/out didn't work. Perhaps the full screen patch from ipdf interferes with the functionality? I'll try to uninstall and try again.

I'm not sure what the mentioned patch does but let me know whether removing it fixes the zooming problem. What kind of file did you load anyway? Pdf / Lit ? Did you try w/ some other file(s) ? C. |

You may have noticed that only characters and bitmap images are subject to zooming but anything looking like vector graphics/ drawing disappear. The pdf can contain drawings as it has instructions for that; but I could not find an algorithm that would be lightweight enough to run on Iliad and perform at least some basic shape recognition to allow scaling. I actually tried, but gave up when I found a file containing some oblique lines that turned out the made several rotated "-" character. Now, equations in pdf fall somewhere in between graphics and characters as they can contain both; the very peculiar elements placing would require powerful recognition algorithms before scaling, which -assuming they can be designed- would most likely run reasonably well on a PC-grade CPU but unlikely on the Iliad's. regards, C. Thank you very much, again, Cartesius. I can't wait to test the fifth pViewer version. Thanks for the hard work.

First I planned to rescan all of my A4 sized PDF files with finereader, convert it to word and make mobipocket files out of it. As I'm having a lot of A4 PDF files its a loooong work.
But today I discovered pviewer and its working almost perfect on my iLiad. Thank you very much for this application. |

I know what you mean! The "Science fiction and Fantasy 13130" collection (mostly A4 formatted) holds more than 13000 books; imagine converting all those..."that" was the reason I wrote this program.
There will soon be a 6th version of pViewer, so keep watching this thread. See the pictures attached here https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69435 for a preview. c. Last edited by cartesius; 01-27-2010 at 11:52 AM. |

happy reading, c. |

It's so great to see such major application still alive. Just tried v6. Some problem:
1. I have some files with Chinese file name. They are displayed correctly on Contentlister, but not in pView. All Chinese filename are represented in strange symbols. I still can open them with pView, though. 2. After several page-flip, the LED just flashed steadily, and the system seemed fail to repond. I have the same problem with v5. |

2. Try a workaround : extend the long click (button hold) in your Iliad settings. Not the perfect solution, but it´ll have to do until next (?) version. enjoy, c. Last edited by cartesius; 01-31-2010 at 05:01 AM. |
